A Lovely Example of Arabic/Spanish FusionPosted by Lilika in Musical Legends, Music, Lebanese, Flamenco |
Following on from the recent Shakers and Movers show and the announcement that the new South London dance showcase would feature dance from different areas I thought I would post a link to a video I first came across about a year or so ago (unfortunately I'm unable to embed the video itself). It features two musicians from very different backgrounds: Lebanese National Treasure Wadi Al Safi and Spanish Flamenco guitarist/singer Jose Fernandez. The song, Subhana Man Jammalak is a an old Wadi Al Safi standard, and this new version is a great example of Arabic/Spanish fusion. Filmed for Lebanese TV as part of Wadi's 79th birthday celebration. The footage also features a Flamenco dancer.
